Expanded Biography

Dr. Benson works in the outpatient psychiatry service where she provides supervision through the Psychosocial Treatment Program, General Outpatient Team, and Behavioral Medicine Team. Dr. Benson specializes in outpatient treatment for a broad range of presentations including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. Her expertise includes cognitive behavioral treatment. Dr. Benson also has expertise in childhood trauma, with a special interest in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents who are refugees or seeking asylum in the US. Dr. Benson also serves as a staff psychologist for the Childrens Hospital Center for Refugee Trauma & Resilience.
