Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

ACLS is an advanced, Instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

Course Content

  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

ACLS Provider Course

The ACLS Provider course is intended for first-time participants, or for those providers who have let their certification lapse. The course is offered over two days, with Day 1 from 8 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Day 2 from 8:00am-2:15pm.

Cost

  • $310/person – BCH employees, BCH / TS Affiliates
  • $410/person – all other participants
  • The course fee includes the ACLS Provider manual and course completion card.

The ACLS Provider Course has been reviewed and approved by Boston Children’s Hospital’s Continuing Interprofessional Continuing Education Committee (IPCE).  Course number 180111.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive:

  • Physician – 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™.
  • Nurse - 12 contact hours 
  • Pharmacist -   12 credits
  • vo $210/person – BCH employees,BCH / TS Affiliates
  • vo $310/person – all other participants

The course fee includes the ACLS Provider manual and course completion card.

The ACLS Update Course has been reviewed and approved by Boston Children’s Hospital’s Continuing Interprofessional Continuing Education Committee (IPCE).  Course number 180110.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive:

  • Physician - 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™.

AAPA accepts AMA category 1 credit for the PRA from organizations accredited by ACCME.

  • Nurse - 7 contact hours 
  • Pharmacist -  7 credits

Important Notes:

Registration

  • All participants must submit a completed registration form.
  • Participants will be accepted into classes on a first come basis. Class size is limited.
  • A confirmation email will be sent to you within two business days. If you do not receive this email, please contact our office for further assistance.
  • Providers who intend to take an Update course must show a valid provider card to enroll in an Update course. Anyone who exceeds the recommended renewal date by 3 months will be required to take a full Provider course

Cancellations and Refunds

  • All requests for refunds must be submitted at least 21 days prior to the first day of class.An administrative processing fee will be charged for all refunds.
  • Cancellations within 21 days, “no show” candidates, participants who are more than 15 minutes late to class and/ or do not have the mandatory pre-course evaluation certificate will not allowed to participate and forfeit all fees.

  • ACLS Course Pretest and Preparation
  • All participants must complete the ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment. This is a mandatory requirement for participation in all ACLS courses and must be completed prior to the start of the course.
  • The ACLS course does not teach ECG rhythm recognition or pharmacology. . Use this assessment to identify areas where you need to increase your knowledge.
  • Per American Heart Association guidelines, all students are required to have the most current ACLS Provider Course manual available to them before, during and after their ACLS course. The ACLS Provider Course manual will provide you with the information necessary to access the Student Webpage and Self-Assessment.
