Current Projects

It gives us great pleasure to announce that a collaborative team of PVP members has received a Human Immunology Project Consortium (HIPC) notice of grant award (NIH link). This HIPC study entitled “Systems Biology to Identify Biomarkers of Neonatal Vaccine Immunogenicity” will build off of our pilot study – the Expanded Program on Immunization Consortium (EPIC). This pilot study with clinical sites in The Gambia and Papua New Guinea, aims to understand the impact of early life immunization. Characterizing vaccine-induced molecular patterns (“signatures”) that correspond to vaccine-mediated protection will accelerate development and optimization of vaccines against early life infections of major global health importance. This U19 award represents the culmination of an amazing amount of work by the entire team and the opportunity to conduct highly impactful studies in the area of newborn systems vaccinology. Our collaborative team includes scientists throughout the globe, including PVP members: Arce, Bennike, Hancock, Kampmann, Kollmann, Levy, Marchant, Ozonoff, Pomat, Richmond, Sanchez-Schmitz, Steen, Tebbutt, van den Biggelaar, van Haren, and Vo.
