Research & Clinical Trials | Overview

Our researchers have been at the forefront of thalassemia research for decades. Our physicians and scientists are currently working on developing new methods of diagnosis and treatment, including studying the effectiveness of a new oral iron chelator, improving the effectiveness of current therapies, using stem cell transplant to cure patients with thalassemia major, and developing new ways to assess iron levels in the body.

We are also conducting a study of a gene that prevents hemoglobin production and how to target this gene with medication. Learn more about gene therapy for thalassemia.
